Twenty-something Rant

I am so going to look back on this one and scoff....

l5: how's life?
f6: it is... fascinatingly boring
f6: or boringly fascinating
f6: make any sense?
f6: yours?
l5: umm mine is...a constant fight with my self to stay in school and stay in this area
f6: you've expressed that feeling ever since we met, why do you think that is?
l5: unhappy with school is my guess...it is just one long struggle to keep motivating my self and convincing my self it is what i wanna do
f6: i can understand that
l5: i feel like i am stuck...i wanna go off and live a different life..but i am making my self finish school first cause my parents gave me this oppertunity to do so
f6: you're not alone, a lot of ppl feel this way, not that this will make you feel any better
l5: o ya i know
l5: i am pretty certin a good population in college feels like this
f6: or ppl at this age i should say]
f6: whatever we do, we feel stuck
l5: ya
l5: i remember when i didnt feel stuck..it was so nice ..i miss it
f6: don't we all
l5: indeeed
l5: o well..growing up and shit
f6: i just read an article about kirsten dunst - not that i like her - and she said the more you grow up the less certain you are about things, or you feel you know less, you notice the subtlties, you become unsure about yourself and things around you
f6: the inevitable intricateness of the simple reality
f6: it's like constantly trying to be yourself and fit in simultaneously
f6: it's funny how we try so hard to build an identity as we get older, establishing ourselves, distinguishing what we do from those we do not conform with, in the end it seems like we only losing ourselves?
f6: this is the crisis of the 20's
f6: then you're really gonna hate your 30's
f6: and then come to terms with your left at your 40's
f6: *live
f6: *life (dammit)
l5: hah
f6: realize now you're really old and planning carefully for retirement in your 50s
l5: who said all this
f6: i did
f6: :P
l5: haha i think the 30's can be a little more smooth then the 20's due to more of a solid foundation in your life. Like possibly family, career, ect. however that is also prime time to start to get sick of all of it and go threw more of a 1/3 life crisis.....
f6: well, but if you think about it, being smoother is not equivalent to being happier, it could mean more boredom, i mean you definitely not feel young anymore when you actually are, physically, i mean you're able and everything but now you really have to live up to your responsibilities, coz you dont have that excuse of being 20-sth, and everyone you see or hear on tv or what not is so much younger than you, and if you havent or not on your way to accomplish something you feel like that's it you've missed your chances, and then marriage and family takes focus then you'd really have to give it all up, so not that you're getting sick of it all, or that you want to, it's more like what are you gonna do about it
