Just how much more retarded, fucked-up things are we going to allow our "beloved" president Bush get away with before his wife gets to make his bed again?? I mean how desensitized have our fellow Americans become - be it a multi-million corporation tycoon; be it a middle-aged housewife in the mid-west - that we could tolerate laws such as "Loaded Guns Possible in National Parks," "Some Power Plants Could Be Exempted from Installing Pollution Controls" and "Federally Funded Institutions Could Turn Down Abortion Requests for Moral or Religious Reasons" to be taken into effect? This is unbelievable and very, very disheartening.
Midnight rules are basically a president's last minute de-facto laws that could be pushed through without the usual checks and balances; once these regulations get published in the Federal Register, they will be extremely difficult to be overturned. I was never too into politics until President Bush got re-elected 4 years ago. Our country, along with just about the rest of the world, went into recession. Precious as well as innocent lives were taken in endless warfare; our very own soldiers betrayed, deprived of liberty and turned into criminals upon being stop-lossed; the rest of them came home as disfunctional members of the society, and they didn't even know what they were really fighting for - what's on GWB's private agenda. Commodity prices continued to climb while standards of living for the average continued to drop. Environmental issues deepened; human rights undermined; our future generations unprotected. Everything that this country appeared to stand for crumbles right in front of our very own eyes, yet there seemed to be nothing we could do.
